Battlefield Realities to Strategic Doctrine

“Modern warfare is no longer decided exclusively on kinetic frontlines; it is executed across narrative dominance, financial chokepoints, asymmetric subversion, and cognitive vulnerabilities.”

— Syed Zaid Zaman Hamid

Syed Zaid Zaman Hamid is a defense analyst, military historian, and veteran of the Soviet-Afghan War. His operational experience during the 1980s Afghan conflict provided direct tactical insight into asymmetric combat environments, irregular warfare, and the mechanics of exhausting conventional superpower forces through decentralized resistance.

In 1999, recognizing that global warfare was entering a hybrid paradigm, he founded BrassTacks as an independent strategic advisory firm. For nearly three decades, BrassTacks has monitored regional military doctrines, nuclear escalation dynamics, intelligence warfare, and fifth-generation warfare (5GW) campaigns targeting the state institutions of Pakistan.

Beyond advisory research, he is the author of over a dozen books and treatises exploring military history, geopolitical strategy, regional security architecture, and civilizational defense. His work bridges tactical field survival with high-level Grand Strategy.
